‘Undressed’ A Brief History of Underwear

Great day out to the V & A Museum London with a trip to the ‘Undressed’ – A Brief History of Underwear!

A really interesting and inspiring lingerie exhibition, examples across many historic periods including 21st century latex!

The craftsmanship was impeccable and made me feel a little sad that so few of us are able to sew with such precision. Glad we don’t have to suffer the torture of the tiny waisted corsets today though.

Bustle examples were varied pads, wire and horsehair, I love a cute bustle worn over your attire today.

Very few examples of garters the earliest dating from 1780 which was surprising.

This corset was designed for the summertime with loose straps to allow air to flow and less restriction, will be taking inspiration from this design has a Jean Paul Gaultier feel.

Well worth a visit, pieces are displayed in mixed chronological order which brings a different dimension to the experience!
